"SOUND EMBRACE" with the John Menegon Quartet

 — (EDT, UTC-04) — (EDT, UTC-04)

Jazzstock @ Senate Garage, 4 N Front St, Kingston

JOHN MENEGON (bass & compositions), JEAN-MICHEL PILC (piano), CHET DOXAS (tenor sax), JIM DOXAS (drums) The music presented by Bassist/Composer/Educator John Menegon, in collaboration with these exceptional musicians, push the boundaries of today’s music on the world stage. The intuitive, spontaneous nature of the music between the musicians in the Quartet is deeply rooted in the traditions that come out of the Free Bop era of Ornette Coleman, Dewey Redman, and Paul Motian, to name a few. The music is created in the “moment of now!”

Jazzstock @ Senate Garage

Matt Munisteri is a freewheeling American jazz guitarist, and a singer and songwriter, whose musical explorations frequently resurrect overlooked tunes and transform them into gems, liberated from era or idiom. His performances mix humor, heart and smarts, with instrumental virtuosity and innovation - think Mose Allison meets Randy Newman, Nick Lucas meets Bill Frisell. He’ll be joined with a long-time collaborator, the versatile and creative bassist Danton Boller, who spent several years with the late Roy Hargrove.

Wonderful concert last night, led by John Menegon, with Jean-Michel Pilc, Chet Doxas & Jim Doxas. Seriously swinging, very accessible yet intriguingly unpredictable. Jean-Pierre Leduc (Bassist and Founder & Director of Lunched Management & Booking, Montreal) on hearing this band at the UPSTAIRS in Montreal in JAN 2023

Canadian-bred John Menegon is in the line of George Mraz and Michael Moore; a harmonically sophisticated bassist with technical facility who swings hard when it’s called for. Kirk Silsbee, Downbeat Magazine
